DJIA closed 0.7% higher at 12,805.4. NASDAQ ended 0.8% higher at 3,016.5. S&P 500 closed 0.7% higher at 1,368.7.
Nikkei 225 index is trading 0.1% higher at 9,470.5.

FTSE 100 rose 0.7% to close at 5,634.7. FTSEurofirst 300 index gained 0.7% to end at 1,033.8.

In Asia, crude oil for May delivery is trading 0.1% or $0.10 lower at $102.60 per barrel.

At 0400 BST today, the GBP is trading marginally higher against the USD at $1.5928, 0.1% lower against the EUR at €1.2122, and 0.1% lower against the JPY at ¥128.91.
