Financial Market Summary

DJIA closed 1.7% lower at 12,715.9. NASDAQ ended 1.8% lower at 2,991.2. S&P 500 closed 1.7% lower at 1,358.6.

Nikkei 225 index is trading 1.0% lower at 9,445.1.

FTSE 100 fell 2.2% to close at 5,595.6.

FTSEurofirst 300 index lost 2.5% to end at 1,026.2.

In Asia, crude oil for May delivery is trading 0.2% or $0.24 higher at $101.26 per barrel.

At 0500 BST today, the GBP is trading 0.1% higher against the USD at $1.5871, marginally higher against the EUR at €1.2128, and 0.2% higher against the JPY at ¥128.22.
