Financial Market Summary

FTSE 100 lost 0.6% to settle at 5,838.3.

FTSEurofirst 300 index slipped 1.1%, to close at 1,072.9.

DJIA lost 0.5% to end at 13,199.5. NASDAQ edged down 0.2% to settle at 3,113.6. S&P 500 ticked down 0.4% to finish at 1,413.4.

Nikkei 225 index is trading 1.4% lower at 9,910.8.

In Asia, crude oil for May delivery is trading 0.3% or $0.31 lower at $103.70 per barrel.

At 0500 BST today, the GBP is trading 0.1% lower against the USD at $1.5890, 0.1% higher against the EUR at €1.2037, and 0.3% lower against the JPY at ¥131.34.
