DJIA edged up 0.2% to end at 13,228.3. NASDAQ rose 0.6% to settle at 3, 069.2. S&P 500 ticked 0.2% up to close at 1,403.4.

Markets in Japan are closed on account of a public holiday.

FTSE 100 gained 0.5% to settle at 5,777.1.

FTSEurofirst 300 index added 0.7% to 1,051.5.

In Asia, crude oil for June delivery is trading 0.2% or $0.19 lower at $104.74 per barrel.

At 0400 BST today, the GBP is trading 0.1% higher against the USD at $1.6279, 0.2% higher against the EUR at €1.2296, and 0.3% lower against the JPY at ¥130.43.
